ACTIVITIES - no end of things to do when you are here!
The sea is there for the taking, so to speak. Bring wetsuits, kayaks, canoes, a dinghy. If you have a boat, you can usually launch off the beach. Sorry, no jetskis!
LOCAL ATTRACTIONS
If you can drag yourself away from the beach, there are interesting shops in Campbeltown and the Springbank Distillery. Heading up the Carradale coastline is Torrisdale Castle and the Tannery. The beautiful fishing village of Tarbert has a good selection of local fish shops, restaurants and galleries.
GIGHA
'God's Island' the island of Gigha lies 2 miles off the Kintyre coast opposite Point Sands. The beaches around the island could make you believe you were in the Carribean, warm shallow waters with crystal clear water and pure golden sand. Mussels to collect for supper. Crabs to be found hiding under the rocks. Collect stones and shells. Practice your stone skimming. Don't forget your bucket for collecting all those treasures. Hire bicycles and visit the beautiful twin beaches, be brave, go for a swim! Or have a relaxing round of golf on the quiet island course.
WILDLIFE
There is plenty of wildlife to keep you busy too. Buzzards hover above the house. We have seen eagles hunting, and catching rabbits. Follow the seashore around from the Point to see otters and deer drinking in the early morning. Rabbits galore and our very friendly family of ducks who will always share breakfast with you, given half the chance!
Further afield is the Macrihanish Bird & Sealife Centre.
WALKS
There are lovely walks right from the park, and the Kintyre Way runs straight through Point Sands. Maps and books are available in the shop.
The Mull of Kintyre is well woth the visit and a tides permitting a trip out to Davar Island on the causeway is an adventure.
A walk up to the castle ruin at Tarbert will be rewarded with amazing views across Loch Fyne.
GOLF
Kintyre is home to five superb challenging, yet unique, golf courses and boasts some of the best courses in Scotland. From the wonderful opening hole at Macrihanish to the small nine hole course on the beautiful island of Gigha you will not be disappointed with your experience of Kintyre Golf!
